About Skreen

The name ‘Skreen’ derives from an Old English word meaning a shrine, or a cupboard. It was usually a portable cabinet with hinged doors.

Pronounced the same but spelt differently, a screen is the large flat-white or silver surface upon which moving images are projected. And also: a system for appraising and selecting personnel | a movable device, especially a framed construction, designed to divide, conceal or protect | a window insertion of framed wire or plastic mesh used to keep out insects | a course sieve used for sifting out fine particles, as of sand, gravel, or coal.
